BlackSky is seeking a Billing Specialist in our Herndon, VA location to join our Accounting team. This role reports to our Senior Billing Manager and is a hybrid position, with two days in the office per week.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and calculate billing cycle Invoices for T&M, FFP, CPFF and similar contract types in the Cosptpoint Deltek system.
• Assemble appropriate documentation and invoicing support for approved invoices and archive information into accounting file directory
• Prepare and submit monthly invoices to customers via emails and other customer portals such as WAWF, IPP, and other government sites
• Coordinate with Project Managers on invoicing requirements to ensure capture of all amounts to be invoiced during and confirmation of invoice accuracy
• Monitor and maintain AR aging activity and follow up with program managers and customers on past due AR
• Enter and cash receipts entries and research unidentified cash receipts
• Troubleshoot Costpoint Deltek systems issues related to billing, contract setup and revenue
• Perform monthly reconciliation of unbilled accounts and respond to vendor and internal customer inquiries and seek proper resolution
• Review contracts and extract financial and billing information
• Assist in establishing project setup, within Deltek/Costpoint, of commercial and federal projects for T&M, FFP, and CPFF contracts in accordance with the contract
• Participate in new project setup meetings to ensure project setup optimizes accounting software capabilities for project revenue and billing
• Participate in monthly project status report meetings with PMs
• Monitor contract funding, and coordinate with project manager, to identify risks, required notifications on limitations, and requests for additional funding as needed
• Assist management to prepare AR Aging reports and following up timely with customers on outstanding invoices.
• Assist with monthly and year-end project closeout efforts as identified by PMs and Senior leadership
• Maintain contract funding and utilization schedule for each active contract
• Assist in the monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting close process by reviewing reconciliations and related AR/Cash transactions
• Responsible for performing and documenting controls over financial reporting in a SOX environment.
• Performing special projects as requested
• Work independently while managing multiple tasks.

Required Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
• Must have Costpoint experience with an emphasis in the Projects and Billing modules
• Experience with government portals such as IPP, WAWF, working knowledge of MOCAS and recent experience with Costpoint 7.0 or above
• Strong Excel spreadsheet skills
• Strong analytical skills along with good judgment
• Very detail oriented with a high level of independent and organizational skills
• Ability to meet deadlines, and prioritize
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
• Eagerness to learn and take on any tasks assigned
• Impeccable ethics with a history of maintaining total confidentiality and discretion of all employee information.
